Note:
 Praxis has congenital insensitivity to pain. He doesn't feel pain related to any injuries he sustains, and as such will go without noticing injuries until somebody else points them out. This does not make him invulnerable.

 Praxis moves very slowly and deliberately, as he fears accidentally doing himself harm and not noticing it. Even laying down or standing up is a tricky thing, since he wouldn't be able to tell if he twisted a leg or sat wrong on a limb. For the same reasons, he never really runs out of his own volition and certainly never fights. (Thankfully he's getting up there in years, so nobody really expects it of him xD)

 His condition is generally known, but not understood. Whispers about his inability to feel pain can cause others to look at him with a mixture of awe and fearful respect, but most don't understand the pitfalls of his condition (such as not realising he is badly injured till he drops, etc)

Personality: Praxis is a mild, easy-going stag, but one that doesn't entertain nay-sayers and scandal-mongers. With age has come level-headedness and an understanding of his own mortality. He is fairly nervous about accidentally doing himself harm, so he is much slower and more withdrawn from society than he ever was before. This extends to his magic use; as he is incapable of feeling the strain that comes with overuse, he is wary of doing profound acts of magic for fear of passing out or losing his magic entirely. 

Praxis is traditional in that he believes that the division between Royals and Commoners exists for a reason, to bring some semblance of order to the forest, however he doesn't treat others as lesser due to their lack of a title. He also doesn't put much stock into traditional colour values; he acknowledges that certain coats are handsomer or more beautiful than others in a classic sense, but he doesn't ascribe to making others feel low for something as insignificant as the colour they were born. As a Lord, Praxis is caring and will offer his home to anybody in need -- indeed, his harem and staff are mostly made up of does and stags in need of a little protection and TLC.

Praxis loves trinkets and has found within himself a love of bargaining and trading. On the rare occasions he ventures out of his den, it is often to go visit the Oldegrove in person to pick up some new wares. His den is a veritable magpie's nest of trinkets and goods and he loves indulging himself in purchasing gifts for himself and his harem and staff.

Appearance: Pale and muscular, Praxis is a bit of a walking contradiction -- though he doesn't really see himself as such. Unfashionably pale and washed-out in appearance, Praxis nonetheless projects a strong, capable image; not least of which is due to his heavy, twisting antlers and the expanse of scars that cover his body. Praxis is tall and smooth-coated, with a neatly-groomed tail and hair that is always kept in neat little bunned braids. His antlers are long and twisted and always kept decorated with the little lengths of dried vines and leather strings with dangling golden 'stars' that he favours.

He has a white wolf fur that he earned while patrolling the Ridgeback Range one winter. A wolf driven desperate by hunger ventured down into Glenmore territory, where it was promptly met by a guard patrol. Praxis occasionally wears this over his shoulders during colder months, though during Summer it is kept neatly in his den.

Human Self:


History: Born the first child of his parents, Praxis was... a bit of a let down. Visually, anyway. His pale coat was tutted over by his parents, however they resolved to bring him up to be a good, proper Lord despite his unfavourable appearance. Praxis grew strong and noble, and his parents' opinion of him changed. While his coat was still seen as unseemly, his strength and well-mannered nature became a point of pride for them. 

As he reached his buck years, Praxis began to train alongside the Royal Guard, as per his family's traditions. As his time with them went on and they became more confident in his capabilities, he began to accompany some of the guards on the odd unofficial patrol. There, he quickly built a name for himself as being brave, often to the point of seeming suicidal-ness, throwing himself into danger without much thought and never flinching away from any attack. He passed a year fighting with the Guard before he passed out one day from bloodloss (a deep gouge near his belly that bled heavily and went unnoticed due to it's location) and it was discovered that he wasn't simply pain-tolerant, he was completely pain-numb. After that point he was ordered to either stay away from the Guard, or to only ever go out in the accompaniment of a proper guard partner who could physically check Praxis over after any altercation.

Praxis only lasted two years in his little unofficial patrols with the Guard before he was gently advised to return to the Royal Glades. During an unassigned border patrol with the guard he had been accompanying, the pair were attacked by a group of Blackwood raiders. Praxis' companion fought hard but was soon taken down by an incapacitating head wound. Praxis, however, fought on without cease till the raiding party was defeated... after which he promptly collapsed, succumbing to a broken leg and internal bleeding.

Praxis' companion went to call for help and Praxis was saved by the healing powers of a Princess... but he was deemed too dangerous to keep around. Should he fall again, they may not have a Princess around to provide help, and his partner's lieutenant refused to risk the wrath of Lord Prendergast should they accidentally lose his son to a battle one day. 

Praxis returned to Royal society considerably more banged up than he had been when he left, but proud of his accomplishments. His father gave his son the immense honour of making him second of the name Prendergast, a significant display of his pride in his pale son.

While his parents were alive, he would accompany them to high-society meetings and gatherings, however after their death he became rather withdrawn and hermit-like. He is now known for being a rare sight in society, a fact that -- alongside his ghoulish scars -- have resulted in him being known as the Ghost of Glenwood.
