Ronan the Lost

Anywho, so I managed to talk some buddies of mine into starting a new herd here on dA The general idea is that everything is random - the horse's colour, it's gender, personality, everything. When everyone gets their starter horsies up, we'll also randomly select the herd leader, just to make things fair.

Anywho, I got a bay leopard appaloosa in my draw, so here he is! He will be part of a wild herd (name still to be decided), rank still undecided.

Personality:* To outsiders, Ronan seems a very quiet, serious young stallion - one who is loyal to his herd and that would willingly die to keep it safe. While the latter is true, Ronan is actually a rather quirky chap. He is serious to a fault, except for rare occasions when his inner poltergeist comes out to wreak havoc. He enjoys playing small, harmless jokes on those around him - especially fellow guards - though he would never admit to it if confronted.
When it comes to his superiors, he is the perfect soldier - willing to carry out any order asked. He trusts his leader and captain, though he also is not afraid to call them out on their mistakes if he sees any.

Ronan is very herd-orientated, and doesn't really trust those from other herds - though he isn't so close minded he can't be convinced.

History:* Born into a large herd, to a young black leopard mare, Ronan's young life proved eventful when a horrible winter blizzard resulted in he and his dam getting separated from the herd and horribly lost. Kept alive only by his dam's fierce protection, Ronan was soon left alone in the world.

Luckily for him, he was found by a small herd led by a domesticated stallion that had been lost to the wild. This stallion was took Ronan under his care, and as the second 'son' of the alpha, Ronan was quickly settled into the job of a protector of the herd, under the direction of his new older brother, Apollo.
As the years passed, Apollo became restless and began to dream of a herd of his own. So with their father's blessing, the two brothers left their homelands in search of a new life.
In time, Apollo managed to start up his own band, with 3 mares captured from other herds and 1 sneakily taken from a human ranch. The band lived together happily enough, with Ronan more than happy to be his brother's second hand - guarding the mares while his brother was away and chasing off intruding stallions.
However one day a freak fire began on the plains, resulting in Ronan and one of the mares becoming separated from Apollo's herd. After a fruitless search, Ronan decided to cut his losses and go in search of another place to live.

For years he existed as a rogue loner on the prairie, the young mare by his side his only companion. Finally he came upon a ragtag herd of gypsy horses who never stayed still for long, and moved with the seasons.

Ronan happily resettled into herd life, taking up the familiar position of a protector once again. And when the herd one day moved into a strange Valley cut off from the outside world? Ronan followed willingly.

Other Notes: Ronan has a very muscular body, which lends well to his job as both a threat and a guardian.
